WHMCS Client Area: What are Onapp Backups and how do I manage Onapp Backup ?


If you wish to take the backup of the entire server, for the purpose of disaster recovery, you may use 'Onapp Backups'.
Onapp backups are 'Bytehouse backup product' which is a paid service. The charge for these service is £2.50 per 10GB per month.

For eg:  If total size of your backup at the end of the month is 21GB, you will be charged for 30GB backup. So, charge for the backup of size 21GB will be £2.50 x 3 = £7.50.

If size of one backup is 21GB, and you are creating a new backup everyday & you are retaining each backup for 30 days, you will have 30 backups each of size 21GB at the end of the month. Total size of 30 backups each of 21GB size will be 630GB. Charge for the usage of 630GB will be (630 x £2.50)/10 = £157.50.

How Bytehouse backup products(Onapp backups) are different from WHM/cPanel Backup?

WHM/cPanel backups are taken/configured from your WHM/cPanel. This is free of cost. These backups will be saved in your server and will occupy the disk space of your server. Details of these backups can be seen in your WHM.

Bytehouse backup product(Onapp backups) is a paid service from Bytehouse. Backup files taken using this service are not stored in your server. They are stored in Bytehouse backup servers. Hence you won't have to worry about backup files, taken using this backup, occupying the disk space of your server.

Bytehouse backup product  service are available for  those who have purchased cloud VPS server from Bytehouse


How do I schedule backup for the entire server?

You may follow the below steps to configure the backups:

1. Login to your client area (https://www.bytehouse.co.uk/cloud-hosting/clientarea.php)
2. Navigate to 'Services' >> 'My Services'



3. Select the required product or services.


4. Click 'Disk Management' under 'Additional tools'.
5. Click the icon for 'Schedule for backups' as shown below:


6. Click 'New Schedule'
7. Fill the 'Duration' and select 'Period' and click 'Save'

Duration - how frequently the backup will take place according to the period set. For example, duration of 2 and a period of days will take a backup every 2 days.

Period - backup period: days, weeks, months or years. Period must be unique for each backup target (disk or server).

8. You may also take a new backup by clicking the 'Take Backup' icon as given below.

How do I watch the existing Onapp backups?

You may follow the below steps to watch the created backup:

1. Login to your client area (https://www.bytehouse.co.uk/cloud-hosting/clientarea.php)
2. Navigate to 'Services' >> 'My Services'
3. Click 'View details' option corresponding to 'Bytehouse Cloud Products'.
4. Click 'Backups' under 'Additional tools'.
5. Here, you can see the existing backups along with the details like; date and time at which backups are taken, the size of the backups.

How do I restore Onapp backups?

You may restore the backups taken by following the below steps:

1. Login to your client area (https://www.bytehouse.co.uk/cloud-hosting/clientarea.php)
2. Navigate to 'Services' >> 'My Services'
3. Click 'View details' option corresponding to 'Bytehouse Cloud Products'.
4. Click 'Backups' under 'Additional tools'.
5. Click the icon to restore as shown below:

This will result in the complete restoration of the server.

Note : You can restore the server from  Onapp backups at free of cost.
