SpamAssassin in cpanel and WHM for controlling incoming spam.
SpamAssassin is an email utility that attempts to filter spam by examining incoming email and testing for spam characteristics. SpamAssassin uses Bayesian spam filtering and network testing to screen incoming email.
How to Enable SpamAssassin
1. Go to cpanel
2. Click spamassassin button
3. Enable spamassasin.
4. How to enable Automatic Deletion of Spam
This function automatically deletes messages that meet or exceed the score limit.
To Activate this function, click the Auto-Delete Spam button under the Filters heading.
3. Score that triggers auto deletion
SpamAssassin examines every email message for spam characteristics, then assigns it an overall score. We can change the score above which mail will be deleted if “auto deletion of spam mail” is enabled.
Default Value of Spam Score at which mail is deleted is 5
If we increase spam score above 5(Eg: 7), lesser number of mails will be deleted as spam and more number of spam mails will come to inbox. This will reduce the chance of losing valid mails due to auto deletion of spam
If we reduce spam score below 5(Eg: 3), more number of mails will be deleted as spam and lesser number of spam mails will come to inbox. This will increase the chance of losing valid mails due to auto deletion of spam
When we increase trigger score, SpamAssassin will become less aggressive, means lesser number of mails will be deleted as spam
When we decrease trigger score, SpamAssassin will become more aggressive, means more number of mails will be deleted as spam
4. How to enable the Spam Box
Enabling the spam box will create an additional folder, named “spam,” where spam mail will be sent. This can be useful in preserving mail that may have mistakenly been filtered by SpamAssassin. It is recommended that you enable this feature.
Please note that Spam Box would be available in cpanel only if “Enable SpamAssassin Spam Box delivery for messages marked as spam” is enabled in WHM Tweak Settings.
You can view spam folders from your webmail.
