How to Backup and Restore Mysql database using phpMyAdmin


You can follow the below steps to backup and/or restore Mysql database using phpMyAdmin. The steps mentioned below applies to Plesk version 10 or later. Old versions of Plesk may have slightly different options.

1. Login to your Plesk control panel.
2. Click on Domains from the left pane.
3. Click on the desired domain for which you wish to backup or restore database.
4. Under Websites & Domains tab, click on Databases. This page shows a list of databases under the selected domain.
5. Click on the database you wish to change.
6. Click on Webadmin. This opens the phpMyAdmin interface.
7. Under Databases tab you can view the name of the selected database. Clicking on the database shows the list of tables in the database.

To Create Backup

After following steps 1 to 6,

1. Click on Export tab. Here you can select format of the backup.
2. Select SQL as the Format, and click Go. This downloads a backup of the database in .sql format to your PC.

To Restore Backup

After following steps 1 to 6,

-----------------
1. Click on Import tab.
2. Click Browse to select the database to restore from your PC.
3. Click Go to restore the selected database.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ABOVE STEP OVERWRITES THE EXISTING DATABASE.
